New SRC Sworn In, Promises to Deliver Good Results

The University of Botswana has new Student Representative Council (SRC) office bearers who were officially sworn in on May 14, 2021. Mr Carter Joseph is the new SRC President while Mr Keaobaka Kitso Johannes is Vice President.

Other members are Secretary General, Mr Karabo Matonkomane; Treasurer General, Ms Ikobeng Gracious Selelo; Administrator Secretary, Mr Tlamelo Godisang; Minister of Justice, Ms Bame Susan Mokotedi; Minister of Information and Publicity, Mr Oteng Kgosi Lebotse.

Others are Minister of Student Affairs, Mr Setswamorago Setswamorago; Minister of Academic Affairs, Mr Leonard Rambwawasvika; Minister of Refectory, Ms Katlo Ditshotlo; Minister of Sports, Mr Tiro Dean Ntwayagae; Minister of Entertainment, Mr Prosper Lorato and Minister of Bar and Canteen, Mr Phindile Lekoape.carter

Delivering his inaugural speech, Mr Joseph reminded the UB student community that it was upon them to give the 12 member SRC some vitality. Coming into office for the third time, Mr Joseph said all that they sought to achieve, which was taking the University of Botswana to greater heights, was possible through the spirit of love.

The Department of Student Welfare Director, Ms Barbra Pansiri, thanked the outgoing president for a job well done and further welcomed the newly appointed president. The keynote speaker for the day, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor David Sebudubudu, underscored the importance of student representation in the university’s governing structures.

Professor Sebudubudu reminded the students that they could only achieve best results if both the SRC and University management worked together in unison.
