Maatla Magibisela is the 2023/24 Student Representative Council President

SThird year student, Mr. Maatla Magibisela, is the new University of Botswana Student Representative Council (SRC) President. Mr Magibisela garnered 571 votes, beating Mr. Boniface Seane who got 523, Mr. Tiro Dean Ntwayagae who got 498 while Mr. Thapelo Walebona trailed behind with 119 votes.

Mr Magibisela and his team were voted during the 2023/2024 SRC elections that the University of Botswana Department of Student Welfare organized on April 28, 2023 and ending the following day.

The position of Vice President went to Mr. Thobo Kwena who got 716 votes followed by Ms. Katlo Ditsholo with 463, Mr. Katlo Mosweu with 444 and Ms. Ntombizodwa Mookodi with 205 votes. For the position of Secretary General, Mr. Selekanyo Mahube was confirmed the winner with 615 votes while Mr. Cornelius Maile got only 509 with Mr. Kgotla Tshimologo and Ms. Bame Mokotedi trailing behind with 338 and 319 votes respectively.

Ms. Thatayaone Temane was voted Administrative Secretary with 757 votes, followed by Ms. Refilwe Mashadi with 462, Mr. Thuto Lucas with 383 and Mr. Prince Radipati with 197 votes. The Treasurer portfolio went to Mr. Brilliant Mancoba with 712 votes, beating Mr. Kaleboga Gaseitsiwe who got 435, Mr. Brandon Molwantwa 403 and Mr. Cornelius Pone 245 votes.

The position of Academic Affairs was claimed by Mr. Montlatsi Monmas Masalila with 715 votes while Mr. Bryan Shabane came second with 405, Mr. Bareng Mawila was third with 310 times and Mr. Boitumelo Ntlamelle came last with 164 votes. The Student Affairs portfolio went to Mr. Tshiamo Brain Badubi with 769 votes and trailing behind were Mr Kago Ngoma with 570, Ms. Phumlani Kagau 208 and Mr. Terra Kagasitswe 205 votes.

Mr. Bokamoso Mogorosi was voted for the portfolio of Justice with 971 votes, beating Ms. Edel Mandu who came second with 361 while Mr. Thato Maatla Mandedu and Mr. Lefika Tubego followed with 296 and 160 votes, respectively. Information and Publicity went to Mr. Maatla Ngakaagae with 785 votes followed by Mr. Otlaaditse Matonkomane with 487, Ms. Botho Tsheole 323 and Ms. Tumisang Ntwaesele 194 votes.

Mr. Modiri Motshegwe was voted Minister of Sports with 705 votes beating Mr. Ketshepamodimo Gaboitatolwe who got 447, Oaitse Phometsi 387 and Mr. Kago Tamuhla 193 votes. Mr April MoengSR was voted Minister of Entertaiment with 907 votes, eclipsing Mr. Boago Disenkeng who garnered 402, Mr. Motheo Moagi 344 and Mr. Kgotso Gongwefela 193 votes.

Mr. Kabo Lesego Ramotlhala was voted Minister of Refectory with 794 votes, followed by Ms. Masego Mothupi with 409, Mr. Tsaone Bernard Goloswang 351 and Ms. Naledi Mokela 206 votes. The Minister of Bar and Canteen went to Mr. Otsile Phumisa with 808 votes, beating Mr. Kebonyemotse Tshwanang who managed 431 votes, followed by Talent Phambuka with 319 and Lovemore Dambuza coming last with 257 votes.
