Emergency Stakeholders Unite to Celebrate Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & First Aid Day

CPRThe University of Botswana (UB) joined forces with emergency response stakeholders to commemorate Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Day at Molapo Crossing Mall on the 19th of October 2024. The purpose of the event was to raise public awareness about the importance of first aid in saving lives and enhancing community safety.

The initiative also sought to encourage people to acquire essential life-saving skills, promote first aid training programmes and expand public knowledge on how to respond effectively during emergencies at home, work or in public spaces.

UB was represented by various faculties: the School of Nursing focused on addressing allergies, the School of Public Health highlighted proper waste management practices and the Faculty of Medicine centred its efforts on CPR demonstrations.

The event also served as part of a build-up and fundraising campaign for the African Conference on Emergency Medicine (AfCEM), scheduled for the 6th to 8th November 2024, in Gaborone.

Through this collaboration, UB and its partners continue to champion the promotion of critical first aid knowledge and skills in the community.
