Eight Tourism and Hospitality Management Students Undergo Interviews for Walt Disney Experience

DysnUniversity of Botswana Tourism and Hospitality Management students recently underwent interviews for an opportunity to work in US at the Walt Disney Company’s Orlando Florida themed park - The Animal Kingdom.

The prospective candidates are eight final year students, two UB alumni and 17 other Batswana in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Briefing the participants on the prospects of the twelve-month excellence service delivery programme, Disney Programmes Senior Recruiter, Mr Javier Reyes, said other than just general entertainment, it was initiated sorely for Walt Disney World guests to experience cultural diversity from across the globe.

Mr Reyes added that while at Disney, candidates would be afforded the opportunity to further enhance their careers through professional courses offered by Walt Disney University as well as receiving mentorship from Disney’s senior executives.

DynsyThe recruitment drive dates to 2018 and was spearheaded by then Head of Department for Tourism and Hospitality, Mrs Montle Siya who is an alumna of the Walt Disney Company. However, in 2019, after successfully recruiting another group, the trip was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic until its commencement in 2023.

Mrs Siya said to develop the programme further, UB was currently in discussion with the Walt Disney Company on plans to formalize their collaboration by way of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
