The University of Botswana (UB) Living and Learning Communities (LLC) recently hosted a lively panel discussion under the theme “Roots Before Branches: Think–Thrive–Transform.” Held on the 25th of October 2025 at Block 245, the event brought together students and guest speakers to explore how personal values, culture and mindset shape growth and success in life.
Guest speaker, Ms Boipelo Tiego, a young leader, educator and entrepreneur from Serowe, shared her inspiring story of overcoming challenges to empower others through education and innovation. Ms Tiego encouraged students to take initiative, embrace lifelong learning and stay resilient in pursuing their goals. “Leadership starts with service, vision and the courage to make a difference,” she said.
The panel discussion featured Gadzano Ntebang, founder of the UB Mental Health Club, who spoke on the importance of mental wellness; Frank Guchu, a second-year engineering student and LLC Ambassadors head of academics, who discussed the benefits of digital learning; and Hope Otsogile, a third-year medical student, who emphasised self-awareness and resilience in personal growth.
The discussion encouraged students to maintain balance between academic pressure and wellbeing, use technology wisely and prepare early for future careers. The event reflected the LLC’s ongoing commitment to nurturing well-rounded, confident and socially responsible graduates.
