The Faculty of Humanities concentrates mainly on those studies that specialize in deepening our understanding of what it means to be human. It is concerned with the spiritual and cultural issues that arise as the result of the processes of development and change both at the local and global levels.

In doing so the Departments of the Faculty of Humanities place particular emphasis on people in Africa and endeavor to see their situation in relation to that of other people in the rest of the world. Departments in the faculty thus have a prime role to play in the discovery and heritage of the societies of Africa in general and of Southern Africa and Botswana in particular.
