The accommodation list for returning students includes only those who applied for accommodation for the 2026/2027 Academic Year and met the approved allocation criteria. Priority was given to international students, students living with disabilities, recognised student leadership groups, and eligible Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC).
Due to the limited number of available bed spaces, it was not possible to accommodate all applicants. Students who were not allocated accommodation are encouraged to seek alternative accommodation in and around Gaborone.
A waiting list has been established to fill any vacancies that may arise. The waiting list includes unsuccessful applicants as well as students whose welfare supporting documents are still under review. Please note that placement on the waiting list does not guarantee accommodation.
Students who have been offered accommodation are required to occupy their allocated rooms by signing the Hostel Occupation Register within ten (10) calendar days from 22 July 2026. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the allocated bed space, which will then be offered to the next eligible student on the waiting list.
Accommodation appeals will only be considered for students with OVC status, psychological conditions, or medical conditions affecting mobility, provided these circumstances were declared during the application period and supported by the relevant professional documentation.
Appeals and enquiries should be submitted via email to studenthousing@ub.ac.bw. Only appeals submitted within the prescribed appeal period will be considered.

First-year students should check their accommodation status by entering their Student ID in the search bar provided.
At this stage, accommodation has been allocated only to first-year students who completed their secondary education at schools located more than 75 km from Gaborone, in accordance with the approved allocation criteria.
Accommodation lists will be released daily in batches until all available bed spaces have been allocated. After all eligible students from areas beyond 75 km have been considered, allocations will proceed to students who attended schools in the Gaborone surrounding areas. Subject to the availability of bed spaces, allocations will then be extended to students who completed their secondary education in Gaborone.
The Department of Student Life and Experience is committed to providing as many first-year students as possible with the opportunity to experience on-campus residence life. However, due to the limited number of available bed spaces, it is not possible to accommodate every applicant. Students who are not allocated accommodation for the first semester will be prioritised for consideration during the second semester, subject to the availability of vacancies.
Students who attended boarding schools in Gaborone or the surrounding areas and believe they should be considered under the distance criterion are encouraged to appeal by submitting proof that they were boarders.
Priority is also given to:

1. Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC);
2. International students;
3. Students living with disabilities; and
4. Students with medical conditions affecting mobility.

Students falling within these priority categories who have not yet submitted supporting documentation should email the required documents to studenthousing@ub.ac.bw for consideration.
