This lecture, hosted by the University, is informed by a study on Olympians career development from initial contact to retirement from sport which was carried out in Southern Africa. Some of the major findings in the study include a significant role played by the school system and national sport federations. The study together with the public lecture offers a promise for context specific research to explaining career path and post-sport transition in our sports.
