Professor Steve Ludwig
Pediatrician & Emergency Medicine Pediatrician,
Medical Director of Global Pediatric Education, Department of Pediatrics,
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and University of Pennsylvania
Steve leads CHOP's Global Pediatric Education (GPE) Program including the Salzburg seminars and CHOP observer program which hosts >100 observers from around the world each year. Previously he created CHOP's emergency department, was residency director and has held numerous leadership positions both at CHOP and nationally in the US over the last 35 years.
Steve serves as chair of the Graduate Medical Education & Continuing Medical Education Committees at CHOP, is a designated institutional official and senior advisor for Medical Education. He is a specialist in general pediatrics at CHOP, professor of pediatrics and emergency medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and the John H. and Hortense Cassell Jensen Endowed Chair in Pediatric Development and Teaching. Dr. Ludwig has served as president of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA), was elected to the Institute of Medicine, chaired the Pediatric Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and was a member of the Board of Directors, American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). After graduating from Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Ludwig obtained his Doctorate of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency at Children's Hospital National Medical Center, where he was chief resident.
Prof. Ludwig is a highly accomplished and effective medical educator, writer, editor, mentor, speaker and leader.
