Launch of the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Society of Botswana

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University of Botswana will launch the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) Society of Botswana. The Botswana chapter will operate under the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) Society International.

Synopsis:

IEOM International is a non-profit organization whose core purpose is to foster critical thinking globally and its effective utilization in the field of Industrial Engineering (IE) and Operations Management (OM) by providing means to communicate and network among diversified people, especially in emerging countries, motivated by similar interests.

Further, the activities of IEOM are designed to enhance the establishment of sustainable engagements with industry and access to numerous global resources, among other things. Some of the activities planned for the IEOM Society of Botswana include workshops and seminars, with panel discussions featuring experts from different industry sectors such as mining, manufacturing, chemical and plastic, food processing, construction, project management, etc.

The launch event will provide for the sharing of the vision with learners, educators, industry practitioners, employers, and the nation at large, and subsequently getting their input through activities planned to enrich the education students and the practice of engineering for the betterment of Botswana.
