COVID-19 Protocols

    • People with high temperatures of 37.4 and above- (Nurse on call or Clinic to be informed)

    • Customers without masks unless exempted but to produce a medical report.

  • Students are encouraged to frequently check their UB emails, UB website, official facebook pages such as UB and Student Welfare facebook pages.

On-campus Accommodation

  1. No visitations to hostels by non residents: residents to confine to own residences;
  2. No smoking and no alcohol allowed consistent with COVID19 regulations;
  3. There will be periodic temperature checks for students;
  4. Students to attend residence orientations as per COVID19 task team schedule;
  5. Social distancing policy to be maintained at residences;
  6. Meetings, if any, to be mainly virtual and where physical presence required it has to comply with COVID19 regulations and University Health Plan;
  7. Students to wear masks outside student rooms (public places);
  8. Students to wash hands with soap or apply hand sanitizers frequently;
  9. Students encouraged to use social media and other electronic platforms for interactions;
  10. Students advised to regularly consult national law, WHO information, and University of Botswana Website;
  11. Avoid unnecessary visits outside campus and use contracted service providers for meals and other available services;

Operating times:

Monday – Friday 07:45 – 19:00hrs
Saturday & Sunday 10:00 – 16:00hr

There will be limited physical access to the library. Observe the socially distanced seating spaces - seats are marked accordingly.

Culture, Sports and Recreation

Please note that facilities (swimming pool, gymnasium, campus indoor, stadium and track and outdoor courts) remain closed until further notice.

The Department has taken initiatives to ensure that activities that can be done virtually do take place. These include but not limited to; the annual sports & culture awards, art exhibitions, online games such as chess and short story competition.

In addition to these activities, the department will share videos on various workouts and movements that the UB community can follow whilst in the comfort of their rooms and homes. These videos will be uploaded on the department’s social media page and further updates will be shared on the same.

Communication on when the facilities will be opened will be shared once the task force advises accordingly.
