Glorious Bongani Gumbo
Glorious Bongani Gumbo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History. He obtained his BA, PGDE and MA from the University of Botswana, PhD from the University of Cape Town.
His research interests, largely on Economic History, include Livelihoods of riparian communities in Botswana, Tourism development, Wildlife conservation, Southern African Liberation History and Botswana’s role therein. He has published widely in both local and international (peer-reviewed) journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. Gumbo has also been engaged as External Examiner for Honours, MA and PhD theses for various southern African universities.
His community service includes being a member of the Disciplinary Committee (Botswana National Sports Commission – BNSC), a member of the Standing Committee (History, Ministry of Basic Education), and also a member of the Broadhurst UCCSA Church choir, singing for charity. A former church deacon, he occasionally preaches at choir events as well as Director of Ceremonies in church activities in Brodhurst church. He was also a member of the History Department staff engaged by Debswana to document the relocations when the mine started its operations around Jwaneng.

Dr Gunhidzirai is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work, University of Botswana. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She is involved in collaborative research initiatives with colleagues both within and outside the University. Also, she is a Secretary of the Links Committee, Exam Coordinator, a member of the Fieldwork Sub-Committee and Student Advisory Committee in the Department of Social Work, University of Botswana. Lastly, Dr Gunhidzirai is a registered member of the Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA), South African Council for Social Service Professions and the Botswana Association of Social Workers.
Dr Gunhidzirai teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Dr Gunhidzirai has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals as well as book chapters.

Ari Ho-Foster is Assistant Programme Director, Office of Research and Graduate Studies, Faculty of Medicine. Trained as an Epidemiologist, Ari has managed and co-investigated in more than a dozen large-scale, community-level epidemiological and field intervention studies in Canada, Pakistan and Southern Africa with the CIETgroup (1998-2010). He also served as Epidemiologist and Country Operations Officer for the Botswana-UPenn Partnership (BUP) (2010-19), prior to joining UB.

Summary: Justus Hofmeyr trained at the University of the Witwatersrand (1973) and worked at Holy Cross mission Hospital in the then Transkei before specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He studied fetal physiology with Geoffrey Dawes in Oxford in 1983/4. He was head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Coronation Hospital from 1988 and transferred to the Frere/Cecilia Makiwane hospitals in 2000. In 2020 he was appointed Professor, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, University of Botdwana. In 2013 was awarded the DSc (Wits). His research interests have been innovations, randomized trials and Cochrane stsematic reviews relevant to maternal health in low-resource settings, as well as research capacity building. Innovations included titrated oral misoprostol solution for labour induction, the first randomized trials of delayed cord clamping for preterm birth and of misoprostol for postpartum heamorrhage, and posterior axilla sling traction for shoulder dystocia. He has published 340+ peer-reviewed papers and 9 audioviual teaching videos for the WHO Reproductive Health Library. He has assited his wife Carol with community development projects in rural Eastern Cape through the Keiskamma Trust.

Keamogetse Setlhare is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Statistics, University of Botswana. She has a teaching career spanning over a period of 25 years. She has published in in a number of journals in the areas of Stochastic Manpower Planning, Health Statistics and Operations Research. Apart from working for the University of Botswana Dr Setlhare is also a member of Professional bodies such as Operations Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA), American Statistical Association, International Biometric Society (IBS).
My research interest lies in the development and application of statistical methods in health sciences research, in particular MCOD, Operations Research and Stochastic Manpower Planning
