Dr Maphale is a professional with expertise in Land Surveying, geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Management. His knowledge of geospatial data collection, processing and management is not only commendable, but it has to be utilised to the advantages of organisations. He has been involved with several projects facilitation regarding the use of geospatial information and technologies in business operations so as to improve operational efficiency and create opportunities.  He has played a leading role in organizing and associating Professional Land Surveyors and Geomatics practitioners in Botswana and as Chairman of Botswana Surveying and Mapping Association, he was instrumental in government/private surveyors’ collaboration in Botswana National Land Registration project (2016 - 2017) which saw a lot of villages surveyed.  Among other organisations he has facilitated are Debswana on the use of Global Positioning Systems in mining operations; Water Utilities on various aspects of geomatics; Botswana District Councils and Land Boards on the use of Computer Aided Designs (AutoCAD use in particular).  Dr Maphale played a leading role in the collaboration of University of Botswana and Ministry of Health and Wellness in the production of mapping dashboard for COVID-19. He is currently serving in reference groups in the Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services.  He is the Vice President of Botswana Institute of Geomatics.
