Maureen Sindisiwe Kalane is currently a Lecturer of Academic & Professional Communication for Business in the Communication and Study Skills Unit (CSSU). She mainly teaches Faculty of Business students. Prior joining the University of Botswana, she spent 10 years at Botswana institute of Administration and Commerce (BIAC) where she was Senior Lecturer and Assistant Head of Department at the Communication and Public Relations Department. She lectured in Business Communication and Public Relations and also conducted training for the public service for ten (10) years.

Professionally, she has wealth of experience in doing consultancy and resourcing in diverse areas of Management Communication, Crises communication, Business, Strategic and intercultural Communication,  Public Relations (Corporate Communication) in the Botswana Public Service and Private sector for over 20 years. As part of service to the University of Botswana, she has served as secretariat on the Task Force on General Education Course. She was also appointed by the Vice Chancellor to serve on the Executive task force that established the Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana, which later led to participation on a programme on Chinese Business Culture at Shanghai Normal University; sponsored by the Chinese Government. She has also served as external examiner and moderator of Business Communication at the Botswana Institute of Bankers and Institute of Development Management.

 

COM 121 - Academic Communication skills for Business

This course is designed to assist students develop proficiency in academic communication skills

COM 122 -Professional Communication for Business

The course is designed to develop communication skills and competencies that the students are expected to use in the professional business contexts.

GEC 210-Introduction to Legal Communication

This course is for anyone who needs to understand and communicate better in legal contexts.
