Prof Alemayehu G Bedada trained as a specialist General Surgeon at Black Lion Hospital, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Prior to joining UB in 2015, he served as a Medical Director and General Surgeon at Gindeberet Hospital and Dembi Dollo Hospital, Ethiopia and as a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Princess Marina Hospital, Botswana. He is academically ranked as an associate professor and serves as the Assistant Program Director in the Department of Surgery. He is responsible for the MBBS and MMed General Surgery Programs in the department.  

His research interests are Surgical Education, Surgical diseases and HIV infection, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Global Surgery.
