Prof. Yinka Oyetunji ('Yinka' is from 'Olayinka') began his academic career in 1982 at the University of Ife, Nigeria, as a Graduate Assistant (UB equivalent of SDF) and simultaneously registered for his graduate degree programme later in the same year. He completed his MSc programme in 1984 and PhD in 1988. He rose through the ranks, becoming an Assistant Lecturer (1985 - 1987), Lecturer II (1987 - 1989), Lecturer I (1989 - 1992), Senior Lecturer (1992 - ); Lecturer, University of Zimbabwe (1993 - 1996); Lecturer, University of Papua New Guinea (1996 - 1998); University of Botswana (Lecturer, 1998 - 2006, Senior Lecturer 2006 - 2013; Associate Professor, 2013 - date); Member, American Chemical Society (1993 - date); Member, Royal Society of Chemistry, MRSC (1995 - 2016); Fellow, Royal Society of Chemistry, FRSC (2016 - date); Chattered Chemist, CCHEM (1995 - date)
