Dr Wananani Tshiamo obtained both her MSN (Paediatric Nurse Practitioner) and PhD from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA. She is a member of the Botswana Nurses Union and Sigma Theta Tau International. 

Dr Tshiamo taught at the Institute of Health Sciences, Gaborone for over two decades. During this time, she served in various positions that ranged from Clinical Instructor, Senior Lecturer and Head of the General Nursing Programme (1980- 2001). She joined the University of Botswana in 2001 as a lecturer and later proceeded to study for a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing. After obtaining her PhD, she served as Program Coordinator for the Master of Nursing Science Programme from 2012-2017. Dr Tshiamo advanced to the position of Senior Lecturer in 2015, a position she currently holds. She has served as a reviewer for local, regional and international journals. Her several publications are spread in local and international peer reviewed journals. She has extensive expertise in nursing education and teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr Tshiamo is a member of the Organization of Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa which advocates for the strengthening of teaching of research in institutions of higher learning. 

Dr Tshiamo taught courses in theory and nursing practice at diploma, undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses focused on maternal, child and adolescent health and health promotion. She has participated in curriculum development for nursing educational programs at basic level and specialty areas. Dr Tshiamo has been involved in practical sessions, internships, research supervision and continuing professional development programs for nurses. Coordinated the Master of Nursing Science program

Dr Tshiamo's interests are child health; neglected tropical diseases such as schistosomiasis; clinical and professional practice issues and non-communicable diseases. 

Has supervised several research projects of students at masters degree level in Paediatric Nursing,Community Health Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner. Currently involved in co-supervision of a student pursuing an MPhil degree in Health Sciences.
