I have a nursing background having graduated with Bachelors degree in Nursing Education from University of Botswana and was a nursing lecturer for about 4 years. I also have a Masters qualification in public health.  I am currently pursuing a PhD in public health in the area of cancer epidemiolgy.

I am working as a Research Manager in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies (RGS), Faculty of Medicine. I have experience in public health and broad research implementation that spans over 10 years. I have been involved in coordination of multiple public health and clinical research on HIV and tuberculosis at Botswana Centers for Disease Control and University of Botswana. In the past projects I have also served in other roles that include Co- Investigator (Co-I) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI). My roles in RGS include supporting the faculty to identify grant funding opportunities, develop budgets and submit applications to ORD for approvals.  I also provide senior study coordination for funded projects to ensure IRB compliance and guide research implementation by supporting research staff hire, training and adherence to protocol.  Additionally, I contribute to the design and implementation of study protocols as well as development of data collection tools in some research projects where I play the role of co-PI or Co-I..  Over the years I have been involved in the presentation of research findings in international conferences, writing of manuscripts and publishing these articles in peer reviewed journals. In some of the research projects, I work with the community advisory boards during the planning, development and implementation of the project to ensure maximal community benefit.

Currently, I am not involved in any teaching

My areas of interest in research are HIV/AIDS and co-morbidities. I have led two studies as a co-PI to investigate point of care technlogies as tools for monitoring viral load in HIV-infected patients. Also, I have conducted TB-HIV co-infection research over the years and was able to co-author about 13 papers that are now published in peer-reviewed journals. I am currently involved in two projects as a co-investigator where we are looking at the prevalence of HPV and cervical cancer screening.
