Kgosietsile Velempini is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Education unit in the Faculty of Education at the University of Botswana. He has a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from The Patton College of Education in Ohio University, USA.  His research focuses on environmental and sustainability education, sustainable development, tourism, community-based natural resource management, climate change, and local knowledge systems in Africa and beyond. He has published in various environmental and geography education international journals. Dr Velempini has Master degrees in International Development Studies and Environmental Sciences from Ohio University and University of Botswana, respectively. He has graduate certificate in Environmental Sustainability from Ohio University, Bachelor of Arts degree (Environmental Science) and Post Graduate Diploma in Education from University of Botswana. He has completed graduate courses as well in Wageningen University of Research (WUR) in the Netherlands.

Velempini's teaching area include Environmental Conservation Education Strategies, Environmental Education Methodology, Research Methodologies, Curriculum Development in Environmental Education in Bachelor degree programmes and Sustainable Development and Environmental Education Policy processes in Master degree programmes.

Velempini's research interests span the following areas: environmental and sustainability education, ecotourism, community-based natural resource management, climate change, and local knowledge systems.
