DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

TEMPORARY FULL-TIME TECHNICIAN (1 YEAR CONTRACT)

VACANCY NO: FET/ME05/2022

Requirements:  A minimum of a two-year Certificate, or Diploma, in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, OR related discipline with a record of outstanding service, good practical and communication skills.

Duties: The successful candidate will work under a Senior Technician and will be expected to:

1. Prepare and set up equipment for laboratory/workshop classes.
2. Operate and demonstrate laboratory equipment.
3. Prepare and store all sample materials.
4. Detect and report faults within the premises.
5. Maintain inventory of stocks and record of equipment loans issued from assigned area of responsibility.
6. Carryout regular service and maintenance requirements for all equipment in the area assigned.
7. Keep the equipment and surrounding area clean and tidy at all times.
8. Act as custodian of laboratory/workshop equipment placed under his/her charge including safety.
9. Provide technical assistance in teaching and research activities of the department.
10. Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Technician and/or Head of Department from time to time.
