TEMPORARY FULL-TIME LECTURER IN MINING ENGINEERING

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

VACANCY NO. IRC 1006: TEMPORARY FULL-TIME LECTURER IN MINING ENGINEERING, DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING (6 Months contract)

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Temporary Full-Time Lecturer in Mining Engineering.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to (i) teach undergraduate courses in Mining Engineering in more than one of the following courses: Surface and Underground Mine Planning and Design, Mining Geostatistics, Mine Supervision and Management, Mine Power and Drainage, Mine Environmental Management, Rock Mechanics, Explosives Engineering, Materials Handling in Mines, (ii) conduct and produce results of scholarly work, actively involving students at B. Eng. Degree level (iii) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Lecturer: Applicants should possess/be: (i) a PhD in Mining Engineering or related fields; (ii) Master Degree in Mining or related fields; (iii) Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent with at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent; (iv) evidence of engagement in research; (v) registered or eligible for registration with professional engineering body. The following will be added advantages: (i) evidence of Governance and Social Engagement; (iii) teaching experience at a University or comparable institution.     

N.B In special circumstances, a Masters’ Degrees in Mining Engineering with significant research output and industry experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering of at least 2(i) or equivalent may be considered.
