FACULTY OF EDUCATION - DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES

VACANCY NO: F0E/DFCS 01/2023  - TEMPORARY FULL-TIME DEMONSTRATORS - 4 POSITIONS (9 months contract)                  

1. Foods & Nutrition including Food Services & Meal Management.
2. Textiles and Clothing.
3. Housing & Interior Design.
4. Family Studies and Human Development/Early Childhood Development and Education

Duties:  The successful applicants will be responsible for:

1. Preparing for, demonstrating, and supervising practical lessons.
2. Grading laboratory exercises.
3. Run tutorials
4. Demonstrate competency in using laboratory equipment and experimental techniques to students as required.
5. Purchase equipment/materials for practicals.
6. Perform any other duties in other areas/sections of the Department as needed including but not limited to invigilation and events as may be assigned by the immediate Supervisor/ Lecturer or the Head of Department. 

Requirements: Applicants must have:  At least a Bachelor’sDegree in Home Economics/Family and Consumer Sciences or a related field with a specialization in:

1. Foods & Nutrition including Food Service & Meal Management; Textiles and Clothing; Housing & Interior Design; Early Childhood Development and Education/Human Development, Family and Consumer Studies).  Candidates applying for the Human Development, Family and Consumer Studies/Early Childhood Development and Education) demonstrator position should be able to work with children under 5 years old and must have a good track record.
   Each applicant must specify the area in which their application should be considered.
2. A minimum pass of 2(ii) or aGPA of 3.0
3. Candidates should have knowledge of operating laboratory equipment in the relevant areas.
