Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Demonstrator in Art and Design Education, Department of Primary Education, Faculty of Education.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to assist in: i) managing the departmental art and design education laboratory and store-room ii) issue tools, materials and equipment to students laboratory and store-rooms iii) prepare Art and Design studios/laboratories for students’ practical sessions; iv) run tutorials in Art and Design Education demonstrating competency in the use of studio/laboratory equipment and experimental techniques to classes; v) maintain acceptable safety standards in Art and Design studios; vi) maintain inventory of stock and record equipment loaned to staff or students; vii) maintain standards and a high productivity in the studios/laboratories; viii) inspect, maintain service and repair all equipment and machinery where appropriate (ix) undertake the purchase of equipment/materials) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or the Head of Department.
Requirements: Candidates should have i) at least a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design Education or a Bachelor’s degree in education with a specialization in art or a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. iii) The candidate must have taken courses in graphics and ceramics; iv) service at a level of art and Design Technician or Teaching Assistant at recognized tertiary institution will be an added advantage.
