TEMPORARY FULL-TIME ART AND DESIGN DEMONSTRATOR (1 YEAR CONTRACT)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Demonstrator in Art and Design Education, Department of Primary Education, Faculty of Education.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to assist in: i) managing the departmental art and design education laboratory and store-room ii) issue tools, materials and equipment to students, iii) prepare Art and Design studios/laboratories for students’practical sessions; iv) run tutorials in Art and Design Education demonstrating competency in the use of studio/laboratory equipment and experimental techniques to classes; v) maintain acceptable safety standards in Art and Design studios; vi) maintain inventory of stock and record equipment loaned to staff or students; vii) maintain standards and a high productivity in the studios/laboratories; viii) inspect, maintain service and repair all equipment and machinery where appropriate (ix) undertake the purchase of equipment/materials). x)carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or the Head of Department.
Requirements:Candidates should have i) at least a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design Education or a Bachelor’s degree in education with a specialization in art or a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. iii) The candidate must have taken courses in graphics and ceramics; iv) service at a level of art and Design Technician or Teaching Assistant at recognized tertiary institution will be an added advantage.
