Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Demonstrator in Art and Design Education, Department of Primary Education, Faculty of Education.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to assist in: (i) managing the departmental art and design education laboratory and store-rooms (ii) issue tools, materials and equipment to students and assist in their usage; (iii) prepare Art and Design studios/laboratories for students’ practical sessions; (iv) run tutorials in Art and Design Education demonstrating competency in the use of studio/laboratory equipment and experimental techniques to classes; (v) maintain acceptable safety standards in Art and Design studios; (vi) maintain inventory of stock and record equipment loaned to staff or students; (vii) maintain standards and a high productivity in the studios/laboratories; (viii) inspect, maintain, service and repair all equipment and machinery where appropriate; (ix) undertake the purchase of equipment/materials; (x) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or the Head of Department.
Requirements: Candidates should have: (i) at least a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design Education, Fine Art or a degree with an art specialization having courses in graphics and ceramics; (ii) service at a level of Art and Design Technician or Teaching Assistant at a recognized tertiary institution will be an added advantage.
