TEACHING ASSISTANT IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY

VACANCY NO. IRC 996: TEACHING ASSISTANT IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY, DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES (1 Academic Year)

The Faculty of Education invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Teaching Assistant in Child Development Laboratory.

Duties: The successful candidates will be expected to: (i) facilitate the learning process of young children from the age of 0-5 years; (ii) to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum, which is multi-cultural and relevant for young children; (iii) Monitor and evaluate children’s daily programs; (vi) Assess individual children’s development and generate progress reports; (v) Ensures health and safety of the children; (vi) Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements: Applicants should possess: (i) Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics/Family and Consumer Sciences or related fields with an area of emphasis in Early Childhood Development/Early Childhood Education or related fields; (ii) a teaching permit from the Ministry of Basic Education (MOBE). Experience in working with young children in a preschool setting and a Master’s degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education will be added advantages.
