TEACHING AND RESEARCH SCHOLAR-LECTURER IN PHARMACY (PHARMACEUTICAL/MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY) -3 years contract

The University of Botswana (UB), a state – owned tertiary education institution, invites suitably qualified, and experienced candidates for the position of Lecturer in Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical/Medicinal Chemistry).

Main purpose of the job: to coordinate and teach pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry courses in the department of pharmacy and pharmaceutical science (full-time).

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach post-graduate and undergraduate level courses in Pharmacy, preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry; (ii) supervise post graduate and undergraduate student’s projects as need may arise (iii) participate in the academic, governance and social engagement in pharmacy or related fields  (iv) and perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry (ii) a Master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry or related field; (iii) a first degree in Bachelor of Pharmacy (iv) evidence of engagement in research. Evidence of governance and social engagement in any of the above or related fields. Teaching at the University or a comparable institution will be an added advantage.  

The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of published works, clearly specifying titles of publications, ISBN numbers (for books, book chapters and conference proceedings), and dates of publications, names of publishers, name/s of co-authors, if any and number of pages. The works should be categorized into books, book chapters, refereed journals, non-refereed works, consultancies and practical media projects.

NB: The Applicants should provide evidence of registration or be registered by the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC) as a pharmacist.
