The University of Botswana (UB), a premier state-owned tertiary institution dedicated to shaping the future through excellence, research, innovation and meaningful societal impact, invites applications from accomplished and suitably qualified professionals for the position of Sports Coach (Netball) on part-time basis, in the Department of Student Life and Experience.
The Sports Coach is responsible for planning, organizing and delivering an appropriate range of sports activities and programmes aimed at developing students, individuals and teams athletic abilities, and ensuring a positive sports environment.
Duties: The successful candidate will: (i) Supervise, coordinate and schedule practice/sessions for university team(s). (ii) Monitor and supervise the activities and progress of players and participants. (iii) Assist in recommending team leadership or captaincy for the UB Netball teams. (iv) Coach and prepare the University of Botswana students for various competitions/tournaments. (v) Coordinate Netball coaching programs and organise sporting and recreational activities for the University of Botswana community. (vi) Travel with the teams to competitions (vii) Perform all necessary administrative responsibilities assigned in the allocated operational areas (viii) Plan and lead the practice sessions, teaching relevant skills, tactics and techniques. (IX) Undertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor in line with their role.
The candidates must be prepared to work on weekends, including public holidays
Requirements: Candidates should possess: (i) A Higher National Diploma in Sports Science or Physical Education is required. (ii) A Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science, Physical Education or any other coaching related studies is an added advantage. (iii) At least two years’ coaching experience at national leagues. (iii) Previous coaching experience at University level preferably (iv) Coaching license or certification (Level 1 coaching certificate or above) and track record of coaching in Netball. (vii) Membership of recognized coaching association or professional body.
Other Requirements: a. Ability to communicate clearly in English and Understand group dynamics will be an added advantage. b. Strong leadership and organizational skills. c. Physical fitness. d. Excellent interpersonal, Communication and Teamworking skills
