SENIOR TECHNICIAN

VACANCY NO: FE/FCS03/2022

Duties: Manages laboratories/workshops on a day to day basis, e.g. delegation of duties, supervision and training of subordinate staff; (ii) Acts as a Safety Officer for the Department and reports to the Chief Technician/Head of Department; (iii) Maintains standards and a high productivity in the laboratories/workshops; (iv) Demonstrates where appropriately competent, the use of laboratory/workshop equipment and experimental techniques to classes; (v) Inspects, maintains, services and repairs all equipment, machinery tools and materials where appropriate; (vi) Advises in the purchase of materials and state of experiments or practical exercises and projects; (vii) Keep equipment inventory and be responsible for purchase requisitions for the department; (viii) Supervise all laboratory staff; (ix) Where necessary, represents the technical staff in Departmental board meeting; (x) Undertakes duties as maybe assigned.

Requirements: Candidates should: (i) have at least a Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences field or related field, the possession of a Masters would be an added advantage (ii) 5 years post qualification relevant experience (iii) At least 3 years of service at a level of Technician excluding the period of full-time study and a record of outstanding service and must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
