SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (EPIDEMIOLOGY)

Duties: the successful candidates will: (i) support the running of the research and graduate studies office; (ii) support of postgraduate and faculty research (iii) conduct research and/or creative professional works in his/her areas of expertise and supervise graduate and postgraduate students’ research projects; (iv) provide service to the university, profession and community; (v) carry out any other duties as assigned by the head of the department.

Requirements: (i) a Doctorate in a relevant discipline; ii) a relevant Master’s degree with a Bachelor’s degree of at least 2.1 or equivalent (from a recognised institution) may be considered for appointment on the basis of relevant experience  (iii)  evidence of governance and social engagement;  iv) a minimum of 10 pieces of research products, 7 of which must be articles in refereed/accredited journals indexed in internationally recognised indexing databases; v); scholarly presentations at national and/or international conferences; vi) the publications must be spread across national and/or international journals; (vii) be lead and /or last author in at least half of the required journal publications; viii) publications should be spread nationally and/or internationally and across journals; ix) some research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions, etc (at least one of these is required); x) recognised as being of at least national research standing.

The following will be considered as added advantages: management of research, university teaching experience or equivalent, sustained research activity, including on-going internally and/or externally supported research (e. g. funded/commissioned), research awards and other forms of recognition (where appropriate), successful supervision of research projects/MMed students/clinical research fellows, examiner/moderator/assessor for undergraduate and/or postgraduate projects nationally.

The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of the publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any.  Publications should be categorised into: books, monographs, refereed journals, non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
