SENIOR PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMES ACCREDITATION (1 Post)

The University of Botswana (UB), a premier state-owned tertiary institution dedicated to shaping the future through excellence, innovation and meaningful societal impact, invites applications from accomplished and suitably qualified professionals for the position of Senior Professional: Programmes Accreditation, in the Centre for Learning and Teaching Innovation.

The Senior Professional: Programmes Accreditation will be responsible for managing the accreditation process, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and overseeing the registration and enrolment processes for academic programs. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to maintain high-quality education and ensure smooth operations related to program offerings.

Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to:

Strategy and Policy: i) Contribute to the development and implementation of unit and departmental strategies, policies, plans, and procedures ii) Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

Compliance: i) Establish processes to assess the quality and effectiveness of academic programs ii) Ensure compliance with university policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements iii) Collaborate with academic departments, faculty members, and administrators to ensure program offerings are aligned with university goals.

Accreditation: i) Monitor compliance with accreditation standards and guidelines ii) Liaise with stakeholders, e.g. academic departments and faculty to align and enhance academic programmes and curricula in line with accreditation requirements and industry needs iii) Maintain records of programme offerings, curriculum changes, and enrolment data iv) Prepare accreditation reports, self-studies, and supporting documentation. (v) Liaise with faculty to review and refine program curricula per accreditation criteria.

Risk and Compliance: (i) Participate in risk management, audits & regulatory, accreditation and program review compliance. (ii) Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, legislation as well as accreditation

and programs review requirements.

Customer Service: i) Respond to customer and stakeholder queries within area of expertise ii) Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.

Professional Development: i) Engage with the professional community to build and maintain expertise ii) Meet performance targets and participate in performance reviews iii) Pursue learning and development opportunities aligned with departmental needs.

The applicant must have:

Qualification Requirements: i) A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Higher Education, Educational Management/Administration, Quality Assurance in Education, or a related field ii) PhD in related field will be an added advantage.

Experience Requirements: i) A minimum of four (4) years’ experience, three (3) of which should have been at an officer/professional level ii) Higher Education experience will be an added advantage.

Professional registration: Member of a recognised professional body or eligible for registration.

Other Requirements: (i) Knowledge of accreditation and quality assurance standards. (ii) Strong leadership, communication, organizational and project management skills. (iii) Familiarity with Quality Assurance, accreditation processes, procedures and standards. (iv) High integrity in handling cash and financial matters.
