The University of Botswana (UB), a premier state-owned tertiary institution dedicated to shaping the future through excellence, research, innovation and meaningful societal impact, invites applications from accomplished and suitably qualified professionals for the position of Senior Professional: Performance Management in the Department of Human Resources.
The Senior Professional: Performance Management will be responsible for monitoring performance reviews and providing the necessary support needed to implement the training and development program to help employees achieve their performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities - The successful candidate will be expected to:
Strategies and Policies: i) Contribute to the development of and implement departmental, sectional and unit level strategies, policies, plans and procedures ii) Stay updated with key trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
Performance Management: i) Liaise with the Talent Management Manager and the respective Managers/Deans/Directors to develop departmental/faculty goals and objectives ii) Identify performance gaps and liaise with Talent Management Manager to develop strategies to address iii) Provide Performance Management Training to enable employees to understand the role they play in achieving the university and departmental/ faculty goals iv) Ensure that annual and mid-year reviews are carried out in line with applicable policy. v) To provide strategic advice and guidance on performance-related matters including recommending disciplinary actions and recognition/reward of exceptional performance. vi) Determine and resolve workplace issues that prevent optimal performance by employees vii) Attend to queries, through due process, as reported viii) Ensure confidentiality and security of performance management-related documents, ix) Monitor performance management tools to assess the performance of employees x) Prepare reports on performance management trends within the university to inform policy review. xi) Participate in risk management, audits, and regulatory compliance. xii) Respond to stakeholder inquiries and collaborate with relevant units to ensure effective service delivery, xiii) Undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Development or equivalent is required.
Minimum Experience: A minimum of four (4) years' experience, three (3) of which should have been at Officer level ii) Higher education experience will be an added advantage
Other Requirements: i) Strong project management and organizational skills, ii) Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching abilities, iii) Familiarity with employment laws, regulations, and best practice.
