The University of Botswana (UB), a premier state-owned tertiary institution dedicated to shaping the future through excellence, research, innovation and meaningful societal impact, invites applications from accomplished and suitably qualified professionals to apply for the position of Senior Professional: Organisational Development in the Department of Human Resources.
The Senior Professional: Organisational Development will be responsible for driving strategic organizational change to enhance the university's performance, culture, and effectiveness, through the implementation of change management initiatives, culture transformation programmes and organisational development interventions that align with the University's strategic objectives. The incumbent will play a key role in fostering a high-performance culture, enhancing employee engagement, and driving continuous improvement across the institution.
Key Responsibilities - The successful candidate will be required to:
Organisational Change Management: i. Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational change management strategies and initiatives. ii. Develop and implement communication plans and stakeholder engagement strategies to facilitate successful adoption of change initiatives. iii. Monitor implementation progress against approved milestones, objectives, and timelines. iv. Identify and proactively address resistance to change, adjusting plans and strategies where necessary. v. Provide regular progress reports and updates to senior management and key stakeholders on change initiatives.
Organisational Culture and Transformation: i. Develop and implement initiatives that drive cultural transformation and reinforce the University's desired values and behaviours. ii. Conduct cultural assessments and facilitate workshops to identify organisational strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement. iii. Implement interventions aimed at strengthening organizational culture, including leadership development programmes, employee engagement initiatives, recognition programmes, and related activities. iv. Foster a positive and inclusive organisational culture that promotes innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Organisational Development and Strategy Implementation: i. Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental, sectional, and unit-level strategies, policies, plans, and procedures. ii. Support organisational effectiveness initiatives through research, analysis, and implementation of best practices. iii. Monitor emerging trends and developments in organisational development and change management to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation. iv. Participate in special projects and initiatives that enhance institutional performance and employee effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience: Applicants should possess: i. A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Development, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution. ii. A minimum of four (4) years' relevant work experience, of which three (3) years must have been at Officer level or equivalent. iii. Experience within a higher education institution will be an added advantage.
Other Requirements: The ideal candidate should demonstrate: i. Strong project management and organisational skills. ii. Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and coaching abilities. iii. Sound understanding of change management and organisational development principles and practices. iv. Familiarity with employment laws, regulations, and human resource best practices. v. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. vi. Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. vii. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
