The University of Botswana (UB), a premier state-owned tertiary institution dedicated to shaping the future through excellence, research, innovation and meaningful societal impact, invites applications from accomplished and suitably qualified professionals for the position of Senior Professional: Health Promotion and Education, in the Department of Student Life and Experience.
The Senior Professional: Health Promotion and Education is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of health education and promotion initiatives aimed at improving the overall health and well-being of students. The successful candidate will develop educational programmes, conduct workshops and collaborate with various stakeholders to promote healthy behaviours and lifestyles within the university community.
Duties: a) Design and develop comprehensive health promotion and education programmes. b) Implement initiatives that address key health issues affecting students throughout the academic year. c) Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to integrate health education into university activities. d) Utilize evidence-based practices to ensure the effectiveness of health promotion initiatives. e) Utilize various media and communication channels to disseminate health information. f) Evaluate the impact of health campaigns and make improvements as needed. g) Train peer educators and student leaders to promote health education. h) Engage students in health promotion activities and events. i) Plan and conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions on health related topics. j) Develop educational materials and resources for students. k) Provide individual and group consultations on health and wellness topics.
Qualification Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or relevant field is required. A Master’s degree in a relevant area will be an added advantage.
Work Experience: A minimum of six (4) years' experience, three (3) of which should have been at the officer level. Higher education experience will be an added advantage.
Professional registration: Registration and being in good standing (or registrable) with a recognised professional body is preferred.
Other requirements: a) Proven track record of developing and implementing health education programmes. b) Strong organizational and project management skills. c) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. d) Experience with research and program evaluation.
