SENIOR LECTURER IN THEATRE STUDIES

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching practical and theoretical courses in theatre at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate should have specialization and teaching experience in Design and technical theatre (scenic, costume, lighting and sound design) and Directing, and either scriptwriting or theory and criticism. Practical experience in recorded media will be an added advantage. The candidate should also be able to participate in programme/curriculum development; departmental theatre productions; initiate and undertake research; and participate in community/stakeholder engagement activities. She or he will also undertake any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Programme Coordinator. 

Requirements:  Applicants should have: (i) at least a Masters’ Degree in Theatre Studies or related fields; (ii) a relevant Bachelors’ Degree with at least a 2(i) pass / GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent; (iii) at least 3 years of experience teaching Theatre Design and or/ Technical Theatre and Directing at a university or comparable institution; (iv) a very good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 publications, 4 of which are peer reviewed journal articles; (v) must be a lead and/or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles or book chapters; and (vi) demonstrated evidence of service. A relevant Ph.D. and demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. The application dossier should be accompanied by a portfolio showing specific examples of design and directing experience.
