SENIOR LECTURER IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT

VACANCY NO: FET/CE 12/2019: SENIOR LECTURER IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT


The Department of Civil Engineering offers a Master of Project Management (MPM) Programme and a PhD in Project Management Programme.  It is looking for a senior lecturer to complement its teaching team to develop the Programmes further into reputable academic and professional qualifications in Botswana and beyond.


Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach MPM courses; (ii) supervise research MPM dissertations and PhD thesis; (iii) initiate, promote and participate in research in the project management area; (iv) provide academic leadership through programme development and research; (v) act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vi) raise/ solicit research funds from funding agencies within and outside the country; (vii) develop collaborative relationships with other colleagues in academia and industry within and outside the country; (viii)  participate in all academic and professional activities of the department; and (ix) carry out any other responsibilities as and when assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Applicants should have  (i) at least a Master’s Degree in Project Management from a recognized university; (ii)  a bachelor’s degree obtained from a recognized university with at least a 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6;  (iii) at least  3 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iv) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 publications with research interest in project management, 4 of which should be refereed journal articles reflecting a spread of national, regional and international journals and/or publishing outlets; (v) lead and/ or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles or book chapters, (vii) applicants should demonstrate evidence of service; (viii) a PhD in Project Management, or in  Construction Management, from a recognized university and evidence of effective academic leadership will be added advantages; (ix) experience in supervising post graduate students at Masters and PhD level.

The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
