PROFESSOR IN SPORT SCIENCE (CONTRACT POSITION)

VACANCY NO: FE/SS01/ 2022

Duties: The successful candidate is expected to: (i) teach Pedagogy courses at Undergraduate and Graduate levels and supervise research, dissertations and practicum; (ii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the Department including research and curriculum review; (iii) teach theory and practical Sport Science classes; (iv) carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department. 

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) at least a Doctorate Degree in Sport Science/Physical Education or related discipline. (ii) Specialization in Pedagogy. (iii) at least 9 years of teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (iv) a good and sustained record of relevant research and publications with at least 24 pieces of research products (e.g. articles & book chapters) publications; 12 of which must be in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognised indexing data bases. The remaining twelve (12) publications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers; (iv) An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals, depending on the quality of standing. (v) sustained research output: minimum of 3 peer reviewed publications (e.g. journal article, book chapter etc.)Every 4 years (vi) sustained research activity: on-going externally-supported research (e.g. funded/ commissioned) (vii) paper/poster presentation at international conferences at least once every 2 years.  (viii) lead and/or author in at least one quarter of the required journal publications. (ix) evidence of mentorship of early career scholars/graduate students. (x) Publications spread internationally and across journals. (xi) Significant research impact included but not limited to citations, h-index, patents, policy applications (at least 3 required) (xii) peer reviews,  publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc. (at least 3) Added advantages, research awards & other forms of research recognition, (xiii) Research collaboration with other institutions (xiv) research collaboration with cognate disciplines in the university  (xv) acknowledged by peers as national/international research standing (e.g. peer review of new research proposals, editor/guest editor/reviewer for refereed & accredited publishers), editorial board of national/international publishers; invitation as keynote speaker at national/international conferences/symposia (at least 3 required) xvi) successful supervision of 4 Masters students OR co-supervision of 6 Masters students OR supervision of 2 PhD students/post-doctoral research fellow xvii) external examiner for masters and/or PhD theses internationally.

The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
