Main Purpose of the Position: The Professional: Programme Developer supports the design and development of Professional Development Courses (PDC’s), educational programmes, and training initiatives. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts and instructional designers to create high-quality and engaging learning experiences. Also to lead the review and quality assurance of professional development programmes, executive education, short courses that meet industry needs and support the University's lifelong learning agenda.
Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for: i. Designing, developing and reviewing professional development programmes and short courses; ii. Conducting training needs analyses and labour market research to identify emerging skills requirements; iii. Collaborating with faculties, academic departments, industry and professional bodies in programme development; iv. Developing competency-based curricula, learning outcomes and assessment strategies; v. Coordinating the development of micro-credentials and executive education programmes; vi. Ensuring programmes comply with university quality assurance policies and relevant accreditation requirements; vii. Preparing programme proposals and supporting documentation for institutional approval; viii. Collaborate in developing course content, learning materials and participant guides; ix. Monitoring programme quality and recommending improvements; x. Supporting business development initiatives through the development of market-responsive programmes; xi. Utilize eLearning authoring tools and instructional technology to enhance course delivery; xii. Preparing reports and maintaining programme development records; xiii. Participate in internal and external audits inline with university policies; xiv. Participation in the identification and mitigation of operational risks; xv. Performing any other duties assigned by the Director and any other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements: Applicants should possess: i. A Bachelor`s degree in Business, Education or related field; ii. Experience in Curriculum and Instructional Design, proficiency in instructional design software and technology; iii. Be registered (or eligible for registration)/a member of recognised professional body (i.e. BQA etc.); iv. A Masters’ degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements: This is an entry level position. The following will be added advantages; i. At least one (1) year relevant experience in curriculum or programme development, professional education, instructional design, training and development, or related fields; ii. Experience in competency-based curriculum design and adult learning methodologies; iii. Experience in developing professional development programmes or executive education offerings will be an added advantage.
