MEDICAL DOCTOR

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICE

Duties:  The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) Contribute to the development of university and departmental strategies, policies, plans and procedures, and lead implementation at medical level; (ii) Develop and implement Health Care plans in line with the departmental strategy. (iii) Provision of timely and quality medical services to the University Community and external customers; (v) Assist in the implementation of emergency response protocols for healthcare crises, outbreaks, and other health related emergencies (vi) Establish and maintain partnership with relevant internal and external stakeholders to enable effective delivery of the departmental mandate (viii) Identify and address areas of improvement for customer and stakeholder experience.  (ix)  Support sectional levels professional development activities, including mentoring, training, and opportunities for advancement (x) Support internal and external unit level audits as per the University policy.  (xi)  Assist with the development and management of departmental budget and (xii) Undertake any other duties as required by the University in line with the role and assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:  Candidates should have (i) A Medical Degree e.g. MD, MBChB, MBBS (ii) A relevant Master’s Degree is an added advantage (iii)  A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience, three (3) of which should have been at managerial level.  (iv) Licensed and registered to practice Medicine in Botswana with relevant professional bodies or eligible to register.

(iv) A compassionate and empathetic attitude when dealing with patients’ health concerns and unique circumstances.  (v)  Ability to adapt to the evolving healthcare needs of the university community and stay updated with best medical practices.
