MEDICAL DOCTOR

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES

MEDICAL DOCTOR - VACANCY NO: IRC 857

Duties: Successful candidates will be expected to: (i) Apply medical knowledge and skills to evaluate symptoms/signs and do the necessary investigations for proper diagnosis and management. (ii) Direct and coordinate activities for laboratory and pharmacy services. (iii) Perform administrative activities such as issuing sick offs, medical and police reports when required to do so. (iv) Assist the director in budget planning and administration (v) Develop and implement policies and medical programs for quality service delivery (vi) Collaborate with Faculties, Departments and other student services in the University to enhance health services (vii) Collaborate with ministry of Health and other external stakeholders to enhance effectiveness of the department. (viii) Prepare reports for government and management on services provided. (ix) Conduct in service training for junior staff. (x) Advise patients and general community on disease prevention through various health education and promotion activities. (xi) and attend to any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements: Candidates should have:(i) Medical degree e.g. MD, MB ChB, MBBS.(ii) Training and experience in HIV/AIDS management (iii) Masters’ degree will be an added advantage (iv) At least four years’ experience, post internship working in a District and or National Referral Hospital, two (2) years of the four (4) should be at a managerial level.(v) Ability to work effectively with students, staff and family members

Qualities: Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication. Ability to work effectively with students, staff and family members, Ability to work independently to manage multiple priorities, Computer literacy
