MANAGER, PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION

The Department of Institutional Panning seeks to appoint Manager, Planning and Construction.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  a) Prepares space utilization studies to determine space needs for all University departments. Also facilitates for review of Campus Master Plan. b) Assists the Deputy Director with the preparation of design briefs and project implementation. c) Assists the Deputy Director in the preparation of renovation proposal to meet the needs of University departments. d) Assists the Deputy Director in maintaining project budget accounts. e) Participants in the preparation of short, medium and long-term campus planning proposals. f) Maintains University construction guidelines. g) Maintains records of all University buildings and infrastructure to ensure that the records are up-to-date h) co-ordinates and supervises in-house design: renovation and new projects. i) Attends all site meetings and takes an active part as required for the post. j) Prepares regular progress reports for the Deputy Director and alerts him/her of problem delay areas at building sites. k) Assists in maintaining record of as built drawings and ensures that closeout reports and drawings. Ensures complete project documentations are kept in Department files. l) Responsible for procurement: building; buildings; furniture; equipment. m) Advises and assists staff in developing their skills to use all physical resources to capacity

Position Requirements: Applicant must have attained; (i) A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering/Construction management or related area; (ii)must be registered  with relevant professional body.

Experience:  (i) A minimum of at least 5 years in the profession area with at least 3 years in construction management or in a supervisory position. (ii) Work experience in a Tertiary institution will be an added advantage.

Competencies: (i) High level of productivity and efficiency; (ii) Organisational and coordinating skills; (iii) Strong interpersonal and commutation skills; (iv) Computer literacy skills in relevant software and; (v)Report writing skills
