LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT/HUMAN DEVELOPMENT & FAMILY STUDIES - FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES

VACANCY NO: FE/FCS 7/2022 - LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT/HUMAN DEVELOPMENT & FAMILY STUDIES

Duties:  The successful applicants will be expected to: (i) teach both undergraduate and graduate Family & Consumer Sciences courses focusing on Human Development, Family Studies, Early Childhood Development and Consumer Studies (ii) supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects (iii) undertake scholarly research (iv) participate in governance and social engagement activities and (v) carry out any other duties assigned as maybe by the Head of Department.

Requirements:

Lecturer: The candidate must possess (i) A doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies or Early Childhood Development and Family Studies or related fields.  A relevant Master’s degree with a Bachelor’s degree in Family & Consumer Sciences/Home Economics of at least 2.1 or equivalent with emphasis in Human Development and Family Studies may be considered under special circumstances. (ii) Show evidence of engagement in research (iii) University teaching experience, governance, and social engagement are added advantages.

Senior Lecturer: A candidate must possess (i) A doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies or Early Childhood Development and Family Studies or related fields. A relevant  Masters’ Degree in Human Development and Family Studies or Early Childhood Development and Family Studies with a Bachelor’s degree in Family & Consumer Sciences/Home Economics of at least 2.1 or equivalent may be considered under special circumstances; (ii) At least 3 years of university teaching experience or equivalent (iii) A minimum of six (6) pieces of research products, four (4) of the six (6) publications must be articles in refereed/ accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. (iv) Sustained research output: a minimum of 1 peer-reviewed publication every two years; sustained research activity: ongoing internal and external supported research; scholarly presentations at national and international conferences (v) Quality research publications: candidate must be the first author in half of the required journal publications (vi) Research standing and (vii) Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research (viii) Demonstrate evidence of governance and social engagement.
