LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT (Contract Position)

FACULTY OF BUSINESS - DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT

VACANCY NO: IRC 1102 - LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER (Contract Position)

The Faculty of Business invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of lecturer in Management.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) Teach Management courses to undergraduate and graduate students.  The candidate must have demonstrable capacity to teach at least three of the following areas: Business Mathematics, Quantitative Methods for Business, Research Methods, Project Management, Strategic Management, diversity management, cross cultural management, managing in a global business environment, managing at the top echelon of the organisation, or any other related management courses.  The department reserves the right to allocate other courses in addition to those outlined above. (ii) Supervise students' research projects, thesis and dissertations at both undergraduate and graduate levels; (iii) Supervise students in internship (iv) Participate in all academic and professional service activities of the department as well as community service, normally associated with a University lectureship; (v) the successful candidate will be expected to conduct research in his/her area of expertise. (vi) Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements:

The requirements for appointment at each rank are as follows:

Lecturer:  Applicants should have (i) a PhD in Management or related fields; (ii) Master's degree in Management or related fields, (iii) evidence of engagement in research. The following will be added advantages: (i) evidence of Governance and Social Engagement; (ii) teaching experience at a University or comparable institution preferably in Management.

N.B In special circumstances a Masters' degree in Management or related fields with a Bachelor's degree in Management or related fields of at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent may be considered.

 

Senior Lecturer: Candidates should: (i) have a Doctoral Degree in Management or related field; (ii) have at least 3 years of teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (iii) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 research outputs published with recognised publishers, 4 of which should be articles in refereed or accredited journals internationally. The remaining 2 publications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc., published by recognised publishers; (v) be the lead and/or single author in at least 2 journal publications, (vi) the research publications should reflect an international spread, (vii) demonstrate evidence of governance and social engagement.

The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of published works, clearly specifying titles of publications, ISBN numbers (for books, book chapters and conference proceedings),dates of publications, names of publishers, name/s of co-authors if any and number of pages. The works should be categorized into books, book chapters, refereed journals, non-refereed works, consultancies and practical media projects.
