LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER – FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT: HEPATOBILIARY SURGEON/PAEDIATRIC SURGEON/VASCULAR SURGEON/COLORECTAL SURGEON

VACANCY NO: FM/DS01/2022

The candidate will deliver an agreed proportion (%) of the department’s full-time duties for a limited period of 3-6 months.  The proportion (%) will be determined from the average number of hours of work per week, over which the candidate will be available to carry out clinical duties and teaching. The candidate may still hold another post at a different institution while serving in the full-time equivalent post at the University.

Duties: the successful candidate will be expected to: (i) provide clinical teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students; (ii) carry out patient care clinical duties; (iii) carry out any clinical related duties as assigned by the head of department.

Requirements: (i) a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB), or MD degree; (ii) a formal degree qualification as a sub-specialist in Hepatobiliary/Paediatric/Vascular/Colorectal Surgery; (iii) the qualifications must satisfy registration requirements as a specialist in the stated specialty with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC); (iv) an active clinical practice record.  The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of subspecialty clinical experience.

Remuneration: the University offers competitive salaries and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary will be subject to the agreed proportion (%) of duties to be carried out.
