VACANCY NO: IRC 1101 - LECTURER/COORDINATOR DISTANCE COURSES IN THE FACULTY OF BUSINESS

DUTIES:  The successful candidate will be required to coordinate the development of distance education programmes of Faculty of Business, which will include: (i) liaising with academic departments in planning the conversion of the existing courses to the distance mode with a multi-media environment; (ii) receiving course outlines and assessment items from course tutors to posting on the WebCT, as well as ensuring that they are updated regularly and informing the CCE Programme Coordinator accordingly; (iii) monitoring materials development processes to ensure that writers, content reviewers and copy editors meet the agreed deadlines and participating in writing/tutors training and item setting workshops, in liaison with CCE Programme Coordinator; (iv) soliciting assessment items i.e. assignments, tests and examinations, and oversee their moderation including printing examination papers to ensure quality and confidentiality; (v) soliciting reading materials from course tutors and forwarding them to CCE to distribution to learners; (vi) liaising with Academic Services in the recruitment of students; (Vii) participating in learners academic registration, and providing career guidance and counselling (for distance learners) including maintaining up to date learner’s records; (viii) processing of pat-time tutors’ applications and assisting in monitoring and processing tutors’  claims, including maintaining up to date tutors’ records; (xi) assisting in quality assurance processes and procedures of all programmes; (x) engaging in teaching, develop materials as well as conduct research in his/her own area of specialization and (xi) perform any other duties that are assigned to him/her by the Deputy Dean.

Requirements: Applicants should have a Doctorate Degree in any of the business disciplines. The following will be added advantage: (i) Evidence of engagement in research; (ii) evidence of governance and social engagement; iii) Experience in Distance learning Education, teaching experience at a university or comparable institution and demonstration of effective academic leadership.

NB: In special circumstances, a relevant Master’s Degree with at least a 2.1 pass or equivalent may be considered.
