LECTURER/COORDINATOR OF DABS PROGRAMME - FRANCISTOWN (CONTRACT POSITION)

LECTURER/COORDINATOR IN DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS STUDIES PROGRAMME, DEPARTMENT OF EXTRA MURAL AND PUBLIC EDUCATION

(2 year contract position)

 POSITION TENABLE IN FRANCISTOWN CAMPUS

The University of Botswana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the above position.

Duties: The successful applicant will be expected to (i) facilitate the design, marketing and coordination of Credit Programmes; (ii) liaise with Part-Time Lecturers in conducting tests and examinations; (iii) liaise with other coordinators, organise workshops, processing lecturers’ claims, and develop a detailed programme timetable and staff schedule; (iv) order programme supplies as required; (v) assist in the assessment of exemptions and registration of students; (vi) assess for  graduation eligibility; (vii) secure proper classroom and computer facilities; (viii) assist in solving students’ problems and address issues that impede academic success; (ix) attend to students’ complaints; (x) liaise with Faculty of Business for quality assurance and effective delivery of the DABS programme and other faculties in future for new programmes;  (xi) supervise the setting and invigilation of tests and examinations; (xii) supervise the capturing of marks into ASAS and other related duties in the DABS programme; (xii) perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department, including, but not limited to, administrative, team assignments and any projects.

Requirements: Applicants should have/be: (i) a PhD / Doctorate in Business Studies or related field; (ii) Master Degree in Business Studies or related field; (iii) Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Studies or related field with at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent; (iv) evidence of engagement in research; The following will be added advantages: (i) evidence of Governance and Social Engagement; (ii); Academic Leadership and (iii) teaching experience at a University or comparable institution. Successful candidate will be expected to accredit with the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA). The CV should inter alia, provide a detailed list of courses (if any) ever taught and the levels at which they were taught.

N.B In special circumstances, a Masters’ Degree in Business Studies or related field with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Studies or related field of at least 2(i) or equivalent may be considered.
