LECTURER IN THEORETICAL PHYSICS (CONTRACT POSITION)

VACANCY NO: FSc/PHY8/2021

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in quantum mechanics, particle physics, nuclear physics and condensed matter physics; (ii) supervise both undergraduate and graduate student research projects within the department; (iii) conduct research in their area of expertise; (iv) participate in the academic and professional activities of the Department; (vi) carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements: Applicants should have: (i) a Doctorate in Theoretical Physics or related field, (ii) show evidence of engagement in research, (iii) the following will be added advantages: (i) Evidence of governance and social engagement, (ii) as well as teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iii) supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students (iv) and evidence of scholarship in theoretical physics.

NB: In special circumstances a Master’s Degree in theoretical physics, a bachelor’s degree in theoretical physics with at least a 2(i) pass or GPA of 3.6 may be considered on a contract basis
