LECTURER IN STATISTICS (CONTRACT POSITION)

The Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Lecturer in the Department of Statistics.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach undergraduate and graduate level courses especially Design of Experiments or Probability theory or Stochastic Processes or Time Series or Quality Control or Statistical Inference; (ii) supervise undergraduate, Masters and PhD student research as need may arise; (iii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department including research; (iv) carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of department.
Requirements: the candidate should have: (i) At least a relevant Doctorate in Statistics; (ii) show evidence of engagement in research; The following will be added advantages (i) Evidence of governance and Social Engagement in Statistics (ii) area of interest in Design of Experiments, Probability theory or Stochastic Processes or Time Series or Quality Control or Statistical Inference ; (iii) teaching experience at a University or comparable institution.
NB: Under special circumstances; a relevant Master’s Degree in Statistics or related field; with a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics of at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent may be considered.
