Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the lecturer position in Special /Inclusive Education (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)/Intellectual Disabilities (ID) /Mental Retardation (MR), in the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education.
Duties: The successful candidate is expected to: (i) teach and assess courses in Special Education with a strong focus on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)/Intellectual Disabilities (ID)/Mental Retardation (MR) (ii) Provide academic leadership through the enhancement of teaching, research, professional or community service; iii) take an active part in the supervision and assessment of undergraduate and graduate students’ research projects; iv) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department including research and curriculum review; (v) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: Applicants should have a (i) Doctorate in any of the following areas: Special Education, Inclusive Education, or special / inclusive education with a specialization in IDD/ID/MR. (ii) Master’s degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, or Special / Inclusive Education with a specialization in IDD/ID/MR. (iii) Evidence of engagement in research in the advertised area (v) relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution, evidence of social engagement, and evidence of professional affiliation in the area advertised will be an added advantage.
N.B. Applicants with a relevant Master's degree in Special /Inclusive Education with a specialization on Intellectual and developmental Disabilities/Intellectual Disabilities/Mental Retardation or a Bachelor’s degree in Special/Inclusive Education, with a specialization in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities/Intellectual Disabilities/Mental Retardation with at least 2(i) pass or equivalent may be considered under special circumstances.
