LECTURER (CONTRACT POSITION)

VACANCY NO: FSS/SOC01/2023

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Criminological Theories /Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Research Methods, plus any other substantive areas as determined by the Department of Sociology; (ii) supervise student research projects at both undergraduate and graduate levels; (iii) conduct research in their area of expertise; (iv) provide service to the community; (vi) carry out duties as assigned by the Head of Department. Teaching and research experience in any three of the following areas will be considered as an advantage:  Organized Crime, Fraud, Financial Crime, Money laundering Risk Management, Profiling, Environmental Criminology, Victimology, Policy Analysis and Psychology of Criminal Behavior and Policing.

Requirements: Applicants for the position should have: (i) PhD in Criminology/Criminal Justice Studies or relevant discipline (ii) evidence of engagement in research and service. (iii) Teaching experience at a university or comparable institution and leadership skills will be added advantages.

NB: Under special circumstances a candidate with a Master’s degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice Studies; (ii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology/Sociology or relevant discipline with at least a 2(ii) pass and an overall aggregate not less than 3.6; may be considered.
